Sheep's Head Way Wins European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) for Ireland 2009

West Cork Tourism is delighted to announce that Sheep's Head Way has won the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) for Ireland 2009 holding off challenges from four other Irish rural destinations. The EDEN project is an EU initiative promoting sustainable tourism development with a particular focus on rural destinations.

The Sheep's Head Way is recognised internationally as an exceptional rural destination founded on the wonderful natural beauty of the Sheep's Head Peninsula.

Conor Buckley, Chairman of West Cork Tourism commenting on the success said, "The organising committee of Sheep's Head Way Ltd. can be rightly proud of what they have achieved in recent years. They point the way forward for all rural tourism destinations and following on from Clonakilty District's win in 2007 this surely shows the world that West Cork is one of the leading destinations in sustainable rural tourism."
