Walking Festival
The 6th West Cork Tourism Walking Festival took place from April 4th - 6th with walks occurring across the region from Heir Island to Hungry Hill. This was the first year the festival covered such a wide geographical area and successfully highlighted the full range of walks available to visitors of all levels of experience.
The festival was launched at the Quality Hotel and Leisure Centre in Clonakilty with an illustrated talk on the Arigideen Valley by Tim Crowley and a presentation by international walker and travel writer Christopher Portway.
The weather proved to be on our side for the 3 days and we had record attendance on all grades of walks. A full round up the 2003 Festival will be published in the next Newsletter since both the guides and organisers will need to take some time to recuperate after the weekend's exertions!
