Level: Easy (suitable for all ages).

Saturday: Sheep's Head Way
Walk 1 - RIDGE WALK
Registration: 10.00am in Kilcrohane Community Hall
Depart: 10.30am by bus to start of walk
Level: Hard
Duration: 5 hours
Cost: €10.00
The Ridge Walk encompasses a new section of the Sheep's Head Way and climbs to 1,300ft passing the oldest evidence of inhabitation in the area - a wedge tomb from the early Bronze Age. It is sited high on the ridge overlooking Kilcrohane. Continuing along Crimea path via a pre-famine village on to Gortavallig Copper Mines. Then on pass the Cove and up Carac Cairn road on to Poet's Way and on to Black Gate. Spectacular views of Dunmanus Bay, Bantry Bay, Mizen Peninsula, Beara Peninsula, Cape Clear Island, Fastnet Rock and Roaring Water Bay.
Walk 2 - CAHER LOOP
Registration: 10.30am in Kilcrohane Community Hall
Depart: 11.00am by bus to start of walk
Level: Moderate
Duration: 3 hours
Cost: €10.00
Experience a new addition to the Sheep's Head Way. A gradual climb to 800ft passing lakes, shoreline and an old fisherman's path. We then pass Trá Ruiam and Caher pre-famine burial ground, then on passed Dooneen and back to Kilcrohane.

Sunday: Whiddy Island
Walk 1 - KILMORE WALK
Registration: 10.0am in Bantry Bay Hotel
Depart: 10.30am by ferry from Bantry Pier (ferry trip 10 mins).
Level: Hard
Duration: 4 hours
Cost: €16.50 includes ferry charge
This walk takes us to the top of the island, giving us a spectacular view of the Sheep's Head and Beara Peninsula with the Roancarraig Lighthouse in the distance. On the way, we will pass by Kilmore Lake, the ruins of a 16th Century Church and graveyard where the last person was buried 14 years ago. Part of the walk will take us past an old English gun battery built around 1803. This is a fine example of craftsmanship surrounded by a 40ft dike. On the ferry trip there are magnificent views of Bantry House, Rabbit Island and Chapel Island.
Walk 2 - ISLAND ROAD WALK
Registration: 10.00am in Bantry Bay Hotel
Depart: 10.30am by ferry from Bantry Pier (ferry trip 10 mins).
Level: Moderate
Duration: 3 hours
Cost: €16.50 includes ferry charge
This walk takes us around the island passing the oil terminal (owned by the American Oil company Conoco Philips) which Whiddy Island is famous for. Throughout this walk we will have the opportunity to observe the varied flora, fauna and wildlife of the island.
On the ferry trip there are magnificent views of Bantry House, Rabbit Island and Chapel Island.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR WALKERS
- All walks will be guided.
- All walkers are advised to bring a packed lunch each day.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Due to the unpredictability of the Irish weather, raingear should be brought on all walks.
- All walkers attend at their own risk.
- No dogs allowed.
